Jayson Arko: Director of Behavior and Shelter Relations
Jayson, the owner of The Good Dog Project, has been working with rescue dogs for the past three years where he has gained experience with dogs of all different size and breed. He attended Catch Canine Trainers Academy to obtain a better knowledge of dog behavior and is a certified pet dog trainer (CPDT). Jayson is also recognized by the AKC to administer the Canine Good Citizen Test.
Working with rescue dogs has allowed Jayson to work with a wide range of behavior problem dogs, puppies, older dogs, and learned that motivation and patience are some of the most important rolls in training a dog.
Since Jayson was a child he has always had animals of all different types, including a bird, turtles, guinea pigs, lizards, frogs, and dogs. Taking care of animals has always been apart of his life. After fostering puppies, adult dogs, and adopting four of his own dogs he knew that dogs were his passion. Jayson has been apart of spay/neuter clinics and has been introduced to the life of a shelter dog, which has given him a different perspective on what it means to train and socialize your dog. He believes by educating people and their dogs to live together in harmony that there will be less dogs given up to the shelter.
Jayson’s four dogs Fletcher, Branch, Hobie, and Millie have been his greatest tools in learning dog behavior. He says, “my dogs are my world and living with four dogs is always an adventure.” He will be working with both sides of the organization, consulting on dog behavior and working directly with people.
